Diversity of Geadephaga (Coleoptera: Carabidae and Cicindelidae) in Colombia: an approach from existing literature

The beetle families Carabidae and Cicindelidae, with about 40 000 species worldwide, play an increasing role in biodiversity conservation ecological studies Colombia, which makes a faunistic update all the more necessary. We present analyze checklist of so far described or registered from Colombia until 2020, based on published studies, their distribution data at department level. are represented by 625 Cicindelidae 100. Magdalena, Cundinamarca Valle del Cauca departments highest record numbers Carabidae, while most frequently cited Cauca, Antioquia Meta. greater sampling effort these regions is likely due to accessibility natural areas main towns. geographical better documented, only 17 % without mention specific localities within country, against Carabidae. Hyper-diverse regions, such as Chocó Amazon, underrepresented. number currently recorded therefore estimated be much lower than true diversity for both families.
